WWE TLC 2016 Predictions

Firstly, this has nothing to do with Tender Loving Care or the girl band. Instead, Smackdown Live presents their final pay-per-view of 2016 in TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. The main concept of this event is the use of the three most popular weapons in sports entertainment as a culmination of many of Smackdown’s main rivalries over the past few months. Who will walk out on top? And who will never be the same again? I’m joined by Sam Verlinden once again for these TLC predictions:

EF: Elijah Fa’afiu

SV: Sam Verlinden

1) Nikki Bella vs Carmella in a No DQ Match

EF: Nikki’s been on the receiving end of some verbal and physical beatdowns as of late, being taken out before the 5-on-5 women’s match at Survivor Series and Carmella verbally attacking her with the John Cena trump card. Although Nikki got a bit of revenge at the go-home Smackdown Live, I see Carmella ultimately coming out on top of this rivalry and legitimizing herself as a true threat for the Women’s Title. Nikki meanwhile may go on to have a feud with a returning Eva Marie maybe?

PREDICTION: CARMELLA

SV: Yea Nikki win

PREDICTION: NIKKI BELLA

2) Baron Corbin vs Kalisto in a Chairs Match

EF: I like Baron Corbin’s character but he hasn’t gotten the right booking yet. Having to pick in a crusierweight in order to get attention isn’t the way. I’d personally like to see a rivalry between himself and Dean Ambrose (because we’ve seen Baron take on Dolph Ziggler multiple time). But yeah, Corbin needs to destroy Kalisto.

PREDICTION: BARON CORBIN

SV: Corbin wins yea

PREDICTION: BARON CORBIN

3) Heath Slater & Rhyno (c) vs The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton) for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships

EF: The Heath Slater free agent storyline was one of the best of the year, but now that the magic’s worn off it’s time to take the tag straps off Beauty and the Man Beast. I’ve been intrigued by the Wyatt/Orton storyline and giving them the belts will carry on their momentum from Survivor Series.

PREDICTION: WYATT/ORTON

SV: The feel good story is over, I just can’t see the current tag champs holding out Wyatt & Orton.

PREDICTION: WYATT/ORTON

4) The Miz (c) (w/ Maryse) vs Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

EF: The IC title doesn’t need to be hot-potatoed back and forth between Miz and Ziggler. Miz needs another lengthy reign.

PREDICTION: THE MIZ

SV: Miz’s reign starts agaaaain boi. Ziggler to move up card slightly also and therefore doesn’t need title.

PREDICTION: THE MIZ

5) Becky Lynch (c) vs Alexa Bliss in a Tables Match for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship

EF: I’ve enjoyed this rivalry very much and Alexa Bliss has become a star as a result of it. I think Becky retains and goes on to a program with Carmella. My only concern is Alexa taking a table spot, but she’s earned my respect nonetheless.

PREDICTION: BECKY LYNCH

SV: Bliss has been impressive recently, but I feel it’s too early to pull the trigger on her inevitable run. Lynch to retain.

PREDICTION: BECKY LYNCH

6) AJ Styles (c) vs Dean Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match for the WWE World Championship

EF: I liked James Ellsworth when he first appeared on Smackdown. But now his involvement in the main event storyline has annoyed quite a bit. Styles has been embarrassed in this rivalry and needs a big win here to make himself a worthy champ. Also, the rumour of AJ Styles taking on The Undertaker at the Royal Rumble is something I hope is true.

PREDICTION: AJ STYLES

SV: Long live Styles as champ.

PREDICTION: AJ STYLES
