WWE Money In The Bank 2017 Predictions

SmackDown Live hosts this year’s Money In The Bank event, which contains a strong card. The event sees six of the blue brand’s top male stars battle it out in the annual Money In The Bank ladder match, with the winner earning a contract to challenge for the WWE Championship anytime he chooses. History will also be made with the first-ever women’s Money In The Bank ladder match, where five of SmackDown’s female competitors will fight for a chance to challenge the SmackDown Women’s Champion anytime and anywhere. Who will take advantage of these opportunities and become Mr and Miss Money In The Bank?

1) The Hype Bros (Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder) vs The Colons (Primo and Epico)

Zach Ryder returns from injury and helps out his old tag team partner who hasn’t had much to do ever since he won the prestigious Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania. A lot of people feel that Ryder should turn on Mojo here, but it’s the pre-show, so I doubt anyone will see it anywhere. The Hype Bros need to be built up and get a shot at the tag titles eventually. Once they’ve been booked strong enough, then it will be a good time to pull the trigger on the Zack Ryder heel turn.

2) Naomi (c) vs Lana for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

The Ravishing Russian Lana made her SD Live debut a couple of weeks ago and has been a thorn on the side of the women’s champion Naomi. A title change here would be even worse than when Jinder Mahal won the WWE Championship (even though Jinder is starting to shine as champion). The safe move would be to keep the belt on Naomi, but expect Lana to show up her critics with a strong performance.

3) Carmella (w/ James Ellsworth) vs Charlotte Flair vs Natalya vs Tamina vs Becky Lynch in the first ever Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match for a WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship match contract

History will be made with the first ever women’s Money In The Bank Ladder match and a lot of people are concerned about how the women will go under dangerous circumstances. But expect a top match with some of the WWE’s safer wrestlers. Carmella is the favourite to win and I actually agree with the bookies here. Rumours of a sixth woman competing in this match have circulated, with it most likely being Nikki Bella, but the Princess of Staten Island, with the help of James Ellsworth, should steal a win here.

4) The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) (c) vs The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships

The Usos are currently the best heel tag team in the WWE and their new style is slowly getting over. A win against the returning New Day should help elevate their stock.

5) AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs Dolph Ziggler vs Sami Zayn vs Baron Corbin vs Kevin Owens in a Money In The Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship match contract

I’m just gonna say this. It’s gonna be either Zayn or Corbin. Both men have the most to gain from this match. Styles and Owens need to continue their program over the US Championship, Nakamura has only just started on the main roster and Ziggler has no chance at all. I would love to see Corbin walk around SmackDown as a proper big guy heel, carrying a Lone Wolf-themed briefcase. However, having Zayn win creates a strong storyline buildup towards an eventual world championship victory, which will guarantee a strong pop from the crowd. It all kicks off here with Sami winning the Money In The Bank match.

6) Jinder Mahal (c) (w/ The Singh Brothers) vs Randy Orton for the WWE Championship

One month into Mahal’s shocking title run and the Modern Day Maharaja has been impressive as champion. A win here would remove Orton from the title picture and allow Jinder to move on to a new challenger. Maybe free agent John Cena? Or a face Rusev? Also, the event is in St Louis, Missouri and we all know how WWE usually book their hometown heroes. Easy win for Jinder
