WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017 Predictions

Firstly for those wondering, yes this is the actual name of a WWE pay-per-view.

RAW presents the brilliantly named Great Balls of Fire PPV, spearheaded by the blockbuster first-time ever match between WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe. The Destroyer has shown no fear towards the Beast Incarnate, taking every little advantage he can get. But will it be enough to dethrone Lesnar? Other important match-ups include the Ambulance Match between bitter rivals Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, while Enzo Amore takes on his former brethren Big Cass in a battle between former tag team partners.

1) Neville (c) vs Akira Tozawa (w/ Titus O’Neil) for the WWE Crusierweight Championship

Despite being the best booked champion in the WWE right now, the King of the Crusierweights still finds himself competing on the pre-show, which is an insult to him and wrestling fans alike. Because of this, expect Neville to retain his championship and continue his never-ending title reign. Sorry Tozawa, but Titus Worldwide is not over enough to get you the gold.

2) Cesaro and Sheamus (c) vs The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy) in a 30-minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships

Expect a tight number of falls in this epic encounter, with Cesaro and Sheamus utimately pipping The Hardy Boyz 3-2. Cesaro and Sheamus need the belts more and hopefully this loss for The Hardys will trigger the return of ‘Broken’ Matt Hardy and Brother Nero down the line on the road to Summerslam.

3) Enzo Amore vs Big Cass

Enzo cut one of the best promos of the year on RAW’s go-home show and attacked Cass from behind in an effort to show that it’s about the size of the fight of the dog, not necessarily the size of the dog itself. Unfortunately, it will all go to naught as Big Cass will squash Enzo in only a few minutes.

4) Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt

In the most pointless rivalry of them all, The Kingslayer takes on The Eater of Worlds in a bout that no one really cares about. Let’s face it, the only reason their fighting is because Seth said a few mean words to Bray. So in that case, Rollins should take this one.

5) Alexa Bliss (c) vs Sasha Banks for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship

I expect this rivalry to go on for a while, possibly leading to a final encounter at Summerslam. Long-term, I see Banks winning the championship from Bliss. But for now, and in order to keep the rivalry rolling, I’m taking Banks to win the match by disqualification, allowing Alexa to keep the title.

6) The Miz (c) (w/ Maryse, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel) vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

The Miz and the Intercontinental Championship together makes the world go round. With the addition of The Miztourage, it provides a new dimension to Miz’s character. The numbers game will ultimately be too much for Ambrose, who goes down to the Skullcrushing Finale. Miz should have a new challenger for the belt come Summerslam time.

7) Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman in an Ambulance Match

With Reigns announcing his intentions to face the Universal Champion at Summerslam, it would make sense to have him look strong and win here against Strowman. Even though I’m a huge fan of Strowman’s work, letting Reigns win is an obvious choice.

8) Brock Lesnar (c) vs Samoa Joe for the WWE Universal Championship

It’s not often you see a challenger of Lesnar’s be made to look like a legitimate threat, but Joe has looked so strong in this buildup that it’s almost making fans believe he can dethrone The Beast Incarnate. And this fan right here, with his great balls of fire prediction, reckons that Samoa Joe can do just that. Having Joe win can legitimize his character as The Destroyer of the WWE and it would be a huge twist that no one saw coming. I’m picking Joe to cause the upset, leading to a Joe vs Reigns match at Summerslam.
